Tips for using the sewing machine

2022/11/07

During the use of the sewing machine, many faults can be solved simply on the work surface, without having to ask a mechanic to do a lot of work, such as flipping a switch or even just replacing the needle once. If it works, it can avoid a long time. The ground stoppage and the dismantling caused the miserable work surface. Listed below are some minor faults that often occur in the sewing process and their solutions for your reference.

1. Sudden stop during sewing; the power indicator light is on, but the hand wheel is stagnant.

Possible causes (hereinafter referred to as“reason”): The sewing machine works at low speed for a long time; overheating of the machine may cause the motor power to automatically shut down.
Solution (hereinafter referred to as“solve”): Turn off the power and wait for 20 minutes, the safety device will restart and the sewing machine is ready to start working.

2. No needle movement
Cause: The upper thread is used up; the presser foot is not lowered; the bobbin is not in the correct position.

Solution: replace the empty spool, re-recognize the needle; lower the presser foot; press the bobbin to the bottom and return to the left; lower the buttonhole lever.

3. The sewing machine stops when it wants to go
Cause: The presser foot does not match or the needle hits the presser foot; the needle falls off and gets caught in the crochet hook.
Solution: Replace the presser foot; remove the needle and install a new needle.

4. The upper thread is disconnected
Reasons: Improper threading method; knotted thread; thread tension is too high; needle is bent, blunt or has blisters; needle size is not suitable; needle placement is incorrect; wire.
Solution: Re-thread the thread normally; knot the thread; adjust the thread tensioner pressure; replace the needle; replace the needle of the appropriate size; set the needle properly; change the thread or needle; start the sewing machine at medium speed; check the threading procedure.

5. Bottom line disconnection
Causes: The bobbin is not fully inserted into the bobbin case; the bobbin is wound with thread; the bobbin does not run smoothly in the bobbin case; there is yarn in the bobbin case or on the shuttle.

Solution: Carefully reload the bobbin into the bobbin case; tidy the thread out of the bobbin case; check the bobbin for possible damage; clean the bobbin case and bobbin.

6. Jumper
Causes: The thread tension is too high; the needle is bent or dull; the needle is of the wrong size; the needle and thread are not matched properly; the thread has not passed through the thread take-up lever; the presser foot pressure is not enough;
Solution: adjust the thread tension; replace the needle; select the appropriate size of the needle; replace the needle or thread; check the threading steps; increase the pressure of the presser foot; re-needle.

7. The stitches do not meet the requirements
Reason: The machine thread is not fully pulled into the sensor; the threading method is incorrect; the bobbin case is wrongly exited; the size of the spool cap does not match.
Solution: fully pull the machine thread into the sensor; thread the thread correctly; correct the thread outlet from the bobbin case; use a spool cap of the same size.

8, stitch confusion
Reasons: Inappropriate needle size; wrong threading procedure; loose thread clamp; strong pulling on the fabric; insufficient or complete slack of the presser foot; deformation of the bobbin.

Solution: select the needle suitable for the thread and fabric; re-thread the machine; tighten the thread clamp; feed the material gently without pulling the fabric; tighten or reload the presser foot; rewind the bobbin.

9. The fabric is wrinkled
Reasons: The stitch is too large for a specific fabric; the needle tip is dull; the thread tension is not appropriate; the presser foot is not strong enough; the fabric is too thin;
Solution: make the needle smaller; replace the needle; adjust the thread tension; increase the pressure of the presser foot; use a thin backing paper; the upper thread and the lower thread are of the same quality and the same diameter.

10. Stranded wire
Reason: The upper thread and the lower thread have not been passed through the presser foot; the feed dog sinks
Solution: The upper thread and the lower thread are pressed on the presser foot at the same time; raise the feed dog

11. Broken needle
Reasons: fine needle sewing thick material; insufficient needle installation; loose needle tightening gong wire; improper selection of presser foot; loose presser foot.
Solution: change the appropriate needle; re-install the needle; tighten the needle to fix the gong wire; select the appropriate presser foot; reinstall the presser foot.

12. Excessive noise, click sound, machine crash
Reason: debris fills the feed dog; there is yarn at the tip of the shuttle; the thread wraps around the shuttle.

Solution: Clean the machine; disassemble and clean the shuttle.

13. The machine does not feed
Reason: Set the stitch length to 0; the presser foot is too loose; the feed dog position is too low; the fabric is knotted below the thread.
Solution: reset the appropriate stitch pattern and length; adjust the presser foot pressure to“conventional”; Raise the feed dog; place the double thread under the presser foot before starting to sew.

14. The needle cannot be threaded; the threader does not move; the threading hook cannot enter the needle eye
Reasons: The needle is not in place; the self-protection of the needle recognizer when the needle is not in place; the needle is not fully installed.
Solution: Turn the handwheel until the needle reaches the position; insert the needle completely.

15. The threader does not return, the sewing machine stops; the threading hook remains in the eye of the needle
Cause: The sewing machine moves unexpectedly while the threading hook is still in the eye of the needle.

Solution: jog the handwheel clockwise and remove the thread hook.
